This is a professional project worked on while employed at the office Blaze Makoid Architecture* in Bridgehampton, NY. This project for a private residence on the East End of Long Island, NY seeks to blend a Modern aesthetic with the cedar shingle vernacular of the area.

The house has an open living space containing the Kitchen, Dining and generous Living Room spaces all of which open out onto a large exterior terrace and covered outdoor dining area. A priority was put on these exterior recreational spaces to emphasize rest, relaxation and to take advantage of the summer weather. The cedar wood cladding is composed of both 6” horizontal boards that clad the majority surfaces of the house, while the “infill” surfaces that bring one into the house from inside to outside are composed of smaller 2” wide vertical boards with a 3/16” reveal further differentiating the two types.
